Winterschool 2021 by Makeitindesign

In February 2021 I joined Winterschool by Makeitindesign and took part in two design briefs.

Creative Brief 1: Country Peacocks Fabric Collection

For the first design brief “Country set” I used natural components, and also wanted to include something traditional from Switzerland. Do you recognize what it is? I hand-drew this pattern in Adobe Illustrator, but also added some bits and pieces I created in Procreate to enlarge the variability. Whilst working on the main pattern I came across the lovely Skillshare courses by Shannon McNab from Sketch Design Repeat After watching her courses I created two additional coordinates to accompany the main design – thanks for your great courses, Shannon!

Creative Brief 2: Geo Frogs Pattern Design

For the second creative brief “Geo Pop” it took me a moment to come up with an idea. Usually, I do hand-drawn art as describe by others have a “cute touch”. I was inspired by a fence and a bridge on a walk, and an adorable little frog on a cake I bought for Valentine’s Day (which was too endearing to eat, and is sitting in the freezer now!). For the background, I suddenly came up with the idea to bring some elements of a wind chime by César Manrique in Lanzarote into my design. For the background, This idea is shown in the pattern with the circles.

Ps: The typical Swiss element I have included in the main illustration of the Country Peacocks design is the “Alphorn”
